You know Jami Gertz.
In a Venn Diagram of the Brat Pack actors, she would have been a circle connected to Andrew McCarthy or Kiefer Sutherland, having starred with them in such films as Less Than Zero and The Lost Boys respectively.
In the '90s, you probably remember her as the uptight psychologist in Twister.
Spoiler: She doesn't get the guy in that movie.
But she does get the guy on television shows---and it's usually the dopey hubby that makes viewers go, "Really? She's with THIS guy?"
For example, "Still Standing."
No offense to the actor Mark Addy who played Bill on this CBS show, but Jami Gertz would NEVER be with a guy like this dude. If you put him next to his wife, you go, "Her?" Hell, Jason Patric had trouble getting J. Gertz in Lost Boys! Jason Patric, folks.
And now, the TV gods are at it again by pairing Ms. Gertz up with everyman Lenny Venito (even his name says, "WTF?") on ABC's "The Neighbors" (premieres tonight at 9:30 p.m. EST), which mirrors the plot of last summer's The Watch, a alien-invasion comedy that flopped at the box office.
So, first of all, I think we have our first cancellation of the fall season. And secondly, what the hell? Jami Gertz would never be with this guy, either! Does she frequently play characters with low self-esteem? Does anyone in Hollywood recognize that this woman is ridiculously hot?
