Hal David, long-time songwriting collaborator with Burt Bacharach, passed away yesterday at the age of 91.
I was deeply saddened by this, as I've spent much of my youth listening to Bacharach/David songs like "Close to You," "What the World Needs Now Is Love," and a personal favorite, "I Say A Little Prayer."
Say what you will, but I don't think there's much a good pop song can't cure. Listening to any of Hal David's collaborations with Bacharach have instantly uplifted me for years, and for the first time, listening to one of their songs has actually made me sad. The world has lost a true talent.
